Chris’s SpellQuencers 2.0 are two KeyQuencer macros designed to add quick spellchecking to any app — for example, SimpleText — that does not have a spell check feature.
Requirements
• Excalibur
• KeyQuencer version 2.0
• Any requirements of the previous programs
Installation
1. Open the KQ Macro editor (default keystroke Command-Option K).
2. Make sure your Installed Macros suitcase is open (if not choose “Open Installed Macros…” in the File menu).
3. Under the File menu, select “Import Suitcase…”
4. In the “Open” dialog, go to the “Chris’s SpellQuencers 2.0 ƒ” folder and open the suitcase “Chris's SpellQuencers 2.0.”
5. Two new macros will show up called “Chris's SQ-check” and “Chris's SQ-replace.” They have comments so you can understand how the macro is constructed. You can also strip the comments to free up some memory. You can also redefine the keystrokes if you do not like the defaults.
Usage
• In you documents, select the text you want to check and invoke the check macro (control-= is the default).
• After the spellcheck, invoke the replace macro to return to the previous application.
• The macros are designed to save the contents of the clipboard before you spellcheck so you do not lose any important contents. You should use the replace macro even if you do not have changes to restore the pre-spellcheck contents of the clipboard!
History
I wrote the “For KeyQuencer 2.0…” KeyQuencer Macros in the text file included with Excalibur 2.3. Since then I have spent time debugging this macro because I write so much using text editors. I got tired of losing the clipboard contents whenever I spellchecked until I wrote version 2.0. Thanks go out to Alessandro Levi Montalcini the creator of KQ and to Rick Zaccone for including my first macros in the 2.3 release. Programmers like these are the people who make the Mac OS so much better!
This is released as “surfware.” If you like these macros and use them regularly, please visit my web pages and send comments. The main page is located at <http://www2.hawaii.edu/~aguinald/> and includes an index. A link would be appreciated, too!
